We will be open for Submissions from October 15, 2009.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: ANY AND ALL WRITERS ARE WELCOME TO SUBMIT FEATURE SCREENPLAYS. A writer's ethnicity, creed, hair color, shoe size, freckle count, etc., have no bearing on Consortium Membership. We do not discriminate. However, keep in mind we will discriminate against bad writing.

The Screenwriter Consortium does not purchase, develop or produce scripts. We are volunteers amassing an inventory of Latino-centric feature scripts to present to buyers on your behalf. We do not charge fees or commissions and you, the writer, retain all rights to your work.

Please read the following guidelines prior to submitting your script:

ONLY PROFESSIONALLY WRITTEN, FEATURE SCRIPTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The Screenwriter Consortium is not set-up to educate writers or provide feedback. We are focused on selling scripts. We strongly recommend writers obtain feedback from trusted, knowledgeable readers prior to submitting.

If you are new to screenwriting, there are many resources available to learn the art of screenwriting. Do your homework, work hard, trust in yourself, and chances are, your story will see the light of day. Never give up -- even after rejections pile up. Rejection is a huge part of a writer's career. Learn from it.

All genres are welcome as long as a LATINO HEART Project element is an integral part of your script.

ELEMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE LATINO HEART PROJECT:
One of the following elements must be included in your script:

Latino-themed story
Latino protagonist
Strong secondary Latino character(s)
Latin America/Spain/U.S. Latino neighborhood location(s)

Forty-six million American Latinos. If your script manages to ENTERTAIN your audience, then, as a welcome consequence, your audience should grow to include a strong cross-over audience, Latin American audience and overseas audience. However, you must first capture your primary audience -- American Latinos.

Please remember you are not writing to ingratiate Hollywood executives -- you are writing to ENTERTAIN your audience.

Examples to emulate:

Scarface (Latino-themed) IMDB
Predator (Location) IMDB
Up In Smoke (Latino protagonist) IMDB
La Bamba (Latino-themed) IMDB
Clear & Present Danger (Location/Strong secondary character) IMDB
Romacing The Stone (Location/Strong secondary character) IMDB
Selena (Latino-themed) IMDB
Carlito's Way (Latino-themed) IMDB
Man On Fire (Latino-themed) IMDB
Mambo Kings (Latino-themed) IMDB
Proof Of Life (Location) IMDB
Before Night Falls (Latino-themed) IMDB
Revenge (Location/Strong secondary character) IMDB
Stand And Deliver (Latino-themed) IMDB
From Dusk Till Dawn (Location) IMDB
Please... no rice and beans immigrant, welfare-check-cashing, oppressed-by-society drivel. Although this or a similar theme may exist in your script, it doesn't mean you should beat your audience over the head with it. Make it funny, thrilling, exciting, scary... make it part of your story. American Latinos won't pay to see un-entertaining crap; your audience is smarter than than.

Political correctness has no place in your scripts. Write with your heart. Tell it like it is. Don't repress your imagination to conform to sensibilities, which may or may not exist. You are a storyteller first and foremost. Leave the politics to the politicians.
Email a PDF of your script to the Screenwriter Consortium. Click here to email.

In the subject box, please use the reference: LATINO HEART -- (SCRIPT TITLE)

In the body of your email please supply the following information: Genre, Logline, Synopsis (if available), and Contact Information.

If your script is selected for the
LATINO HEART Project, a synopsis (a marketing version) will be required.

Best of luck,
